This week the trailer for Me Before You, based on the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes, was released. In the short 2:48 minutes I already had tears welled up in my eyes and a lot of FEELINGS.
This upcoming movie is about Will Traynor (Sam Claflin “Hunger Games”) a wealthy young man who suffered a terrible accident and has been left paralyzed from the neck down. A wheel-chair ridden life has left him wanting to end it, but he promises his loving parents six more months with him before they pull the plug.
A rather morbid scene is set, but then in walks Louisa Clark (Emilia Clarke “Game of Thrones”) who has been hired to look after Will and be his caregiver. A tale as old as time has the two unlikely souls falling in love in an unfortunate time. She begins to show him the meaning of life and why he shouldn’t give up. Cue the waterfalls from your eyes. Cue sad the Ed Sheeran lyrics.
Me Before You seems like a film that’s both going to motivate us to live a life more worthwhile and make us appreciate our loved ones (or find a loved one immediately!).
“You are pretty much the only thing that makes me want to get up in the morning” – Will Traynor
