J.J. Abrams says bye to Star Trek

Written by

The first J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek films have won the applause of critics and audiences alike. Unfortunately, the third film will have to find success without the flare obsessed director’s touch. Abrams has officially announced that he won’t be returning to direct the third installment. Thankfully, he will be helping screenwriters Alex Kurzman and Bob Orci, who wrote the first two films, get the third installment’s story off the ground before he exits.

“…it definitely feels like the right time to let someone come in and do their own thing. I certainly don’t want someone to come in and try to do what I would have done. We want to hire someone who’s gonna come in and bring their own sensibility. I’m very excited to see what comes next, despite feeling jealous of whoever that person is.”

Is this good or bad news? Live long and prosper J.J. Abrams.
