Sony Walkman Are Selling Like Hotcakes On eBay Thanks To Guardians Of The Galaxy

Written by

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is hot property right now. So much so, that 80s-style Sony Walkman is becoming popular again. Replicas of Star-Lord’s TPS-L2 cassette player are skyrocketing on eBay.

As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. However, not many people would have guessed that the Sony Walkman TPS-L2, the first Walkman ever made, introduced in 1979, would make a big comeback. Expect to pay around $1000 for a vintage one on eBay, quite a hefty price to be ‘hooked on a feeling’. While there are cheaper ones, not many of them are still operational. And that’s only half the problem. Find the corresponding orange MDR-3L2 headphones is even more difficult.

However, fans are lining up to get their hands on a device similar to the one owned by Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord character. The popularity of the Walkman shows just how popular the Guardians of The Galaxy have become.

The smart would be for Sony to reintroduce the product. However, considering that it’s a Marvel movie, that might not happen anytime soon.

Sony should bring back the Walkman but with a built in HDD, maybe make it a bit smaller and keep the classic play buttons
