It was revealed by Rod Fergusson, head of The Coalition, who are developing Gears of War 4, that the game will offer split-screen in all the game modes.
While speaking to The Game Informer Show, he said that players will be able to play Gears of War 4 split-screen in all of the modes. He did, however, mention that the split-screen will drop the frame rate from the usual 60fps to 30fps. The campaign mode will be running in 30fps as standard.
Fergusson also admitted that even though developers have been leaving split-screen out of their games it is not something that they will or could do as it is a feature that defines the franchise.
Gears of War will launch on the 11th of October 2016 as a Xbox One exclusive.
