There is no shortage of stories about abandoned Superman movies. In 2013, Genndy Tartakovsky (of Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter’s Laboratory fame) had his eye on doing a Superman short film. Sadly, it got canceled. Now artist Scott Willis has revealed some of the art.
“Genndy Tartakovsky, Justin Thompson and I were very excited to do our take on an animated Superman but, unfortunately, it was pulled from us just as we were starting,” Scott Willis posted. The short was originally planned for DC Nation and was still in the early days before it was brought to a halt.
It’s a shame we’ll never get to see Genndy Tartakovsky’s short. The art looks stunning. Taratakovsky is currently back at work on the revived Samurai Jack series.
