As individuals we all have our own views on what is considered art. I consider the design of a great looking car as visual art, the sound each of the different engines make as a form of audio/music art and finally controlling a car around a track as a beautiful “stage” performance. But I don’t have the budget to really see all this art in action. Luckily for us as gamers, we can experience all this with Forza Motorsport 6.
Forza Motorsport 6 is a very popular racing series developed by the masterminds at Turn 10 Studios. This is their sixth instalment in the Forza series and it was released in the franchise’s 10th anniversary. But I know what you must be thinking; it is just another Forza racing game. Well, it kind of is, but also at the same time it isn’t. They have added so many new gameplay elements that really bring the series to life.
Let us have a look what the game has to offer. The game features a massive collection of cars, 450 cars to be exact. So if you can’t find a car you like, then you are not looking hard enough. It also features 26 tracks which includes some real famous tracks like; Nürburgring, Daytona, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans. The game features a story mode called “Stories of Motorsport”. But this is the first problem I kind of have with the game. Way too many cars, but it has not enough tracks. The game still features hours and hours of fun. Some might get tired of driving the same old tracks.
The game features a new weather element which they say includes 3D Puddles. For me this is what made this game stand out from the previous titles. Driving in the rain was never this fun. The whole fact that you are speeding down a race track and then out of nowhere you start hydroplaning and it could cost you the race, unless you use the rewind function. They did this feature really well and is like my favourite part of the game now.
Forza games are known for their stunning visuals and Forza 6 is no different. The game looks stunning. But I did find some details lacking. For example, when you driving in the rain using Cockpit cam, you see the rain drops running up your windshield as you are racing. But when you go Bonnet cam, the water detail is like your car is standing still in a light rain storm. Also I am really sad that they didn’t include some kind of Helmet camera view.
The game features loads to keep one busy. Be it racing with friends or strangers in Multiplayer, start a racing league or just racing in the story mode. There is much fun to be had in this game. The sound will make any petrol head excited. Racing in the rain with the fear of you might lose control of your car. I can honestly say, I highly recommend this game.
