It has been officially announced by Square Enix that Final Fantasy XV has been delayed, this after rumors began surfacing this past weekend that this might be the case.

Square Enix indicated that the game’s release has been pushed back to the 29th of November 2016. The reason for the delay, according to Square Enix, is to allow ” the development teams time to further polish and conduct quality testing so that the reality of the game can match the expectations of both the fans and the creative teams.”

Director Hajime Tabata said in a statement that the team hopes to create a level of freedom that has not yet been seen in the Final Fantasy series, and that the extra development time would help the team realize this vision. Tabata also apologized to fans for the delay.

“As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”

We have been waiting for the game for at least 10 years, so I guess that waiting an extra few months couldn’t hurt. I just hope that the extra development time gives the team the chance to make this one of the best Final Fantasy games in the series.
