Are you into gaming? Do you love eSports? Then you need to head on over to the Sandton Convention Centre between the 21st and 23rd of July 2017 for the inaugural Rush event.
Rush is an event that is brought to you by the good people responsible for the legendary and totally awesome rAge gaming expo. It will feature a variety of competitive eSports tournaments ranging from action orientated games to card games (such as Hearthstone). Rush promises something for every type of eSports fan, from the more laid back to the hardcore gamer.
“Rush is an exciting, compelling showcase of everything that South African eSports currently has to offer. We’ve created a unique experience that will appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers, and one that will serve as a visual introduction to anyone who doesn’t know what all this eSports fuss is about. Having been actively involved in the local gaming industry for the past 20 years through NAG and rAge, Rush is a great platform for us to build, empower and connect with new and existing eSports communities.” said Lauren Das Neves, marketing manager for Rush, NAG and rAge.
The event will house four main stages that will be showcasing popular eSports titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, FIFA 17, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V. Supporters and fans will be able to view these tournaments live on big screen, with dedicated seating available at all the stages.
Those that visit Rush will be able to sign up for exciting tournaments across a range of different games. Who knows, you might even win one of the awesome prizes up for grabs. Everyone is encouraged to enter no matter your age or skill level.
The big news is that the soccer club Kaizer Chiefs has partnered with sponsors Vodacom and Nike at the event to give players a chance to go head-to-head in the FIFA 17 tournament. If you think you have what it takes then head over to the link to sign up www.acgl.co.za/kaizerchiefs. What are you waiting for? It’s free.
For those with more medieval and magical tastes, Kwesé will be hosting a Hearthstone Fireside gathering at Rush. Why enter? Well, there is R30,000 cash in prizes to be won across the weekend including an MSI gaming notebook. If casual play is more your style there will also be more laid back tournaments for those who want to play a friendly match or two.
Want to kick your opponents butt in Street Fighter V? Orena will be ramping up their fight night offering at Rush, with a casual Street Fighter V tournament set for an EFC-sized boost. On Sunday the 23rd of July at 11:00, EFC Worldwide welterweight champion Dricus du Plessis and bantamweight champion Demarte Pena will face off in an exhibition in the OFN octagon.
What would a gaming event be without a LAN? Luckily the Winter NAG LAN at Rush has you covered. Experience multiplayer gaming with hundreds of your fellow gamers all in the comfort of one venue. There will also be casual tournaments held in the NAG LAN with some great prizes on offer. So, if you haven’t grabbed your ticket for the LAN yet there are still some available at Computicket. As part of the NAG LAN Rush offer, those that purchase their NAG LAN Rush tickets for R600 will automatically qualify for, and be guaranteed, a NAG LAN ticker for rAge which will then only cost them R450. This once-off offer applies to any NAG LAN at Rush tickets that have already been bought.
Of course, these are just some of the events you can expect at Rush as there will be a variety of other activities to take part in as well. These include PlayStation VR, arcade cabinets, and retail stands, which should offer you more than enough to do during your eSports breaks.
Rush promises to be an event to remember. Day tickets (entry for one day only) costs R50. A weekend ticket (valid for all three days) will cost R100. Tickets will be available at the door or at Computicket.
