When a trailer was revealed for Hideo Kojima’s new game Death Stranding at the 2016 Game Awards, many were excited to see that Guillermo Del Toro would be involved in.

Del Toro Not Creatively Involved In Kojima's Death Stranding

Now, Del Toro has finally clarified what his role will be in Death Stranding, and it might not be exactly what fans were hoping for. Del Toro has confirmed that he will not be creatively involved in the development of the game, although he will be playing a character in it. He explained that Kojima initially asked him to portray a character in the game and that he won’t be involved otherwise.

“Kojima-san called me and said, ‘I want you to be a character in the game,’ and I said, ‘Gladly.’ He’s discussed his ideas so I could understand the character, but other than that I’m not involved, creatively, at all,”

“This is entirely Kojima-san’s game,” del Toro added. “I think it’s gonna be a fantastic game, 100%. But this is him and his ideas. I’m just a puppet in his hands. My contribution is limited to being a cheerleader for his ideas and being scanned for long hours at a time. That’s about it.”

Mads Mikkelsen and Norman Reedus will also be joining Del Toro as characters in the game, which, of course, has us really looking forward to its release (whenever that will be). So, do you think that Death Stranding will turn out to be a fantastic game?
