Stephen King, the author of The Dark Tower series, has revealed that the movies will not be straight adaptations of the series of books.
While being interviewed on a podcast with Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King revealed that The Dark Tower movie, that is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel, will only start “in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning”. He acknowledged that this may upset some of the fans, but he believes that they would still get behind the movie as it nevertheless follows the narrative of the books.
The Nikolaj Arcel directed movie is the first of several films that are based on the books by Stephen King. The cast includes Idris Elba as the gunslinger, Roland Deschain, and Matthew McConaughey as the man in black, Walter Padick.
King also confessed his surprise when his dream of getting the books made into movies was finally realized. The Dark Tower has recently begun filming.
