Cool New TV Shows Coming This Year

Great shows can now be found in a number of different corners of the TV landscape. For the TV industry, this was one of the most important weeks of the year thanks to the upfronts, aka the network announcements of the shows to come for the new fall season. Among them are some really “cool” new shows to look forward to.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Creator: Joss Whedon (The Avengers)

Based on Marvel Comics’ secret intelligence organization that has appeared in countless titles, including Iron Man, Captain America and The Ultimates, since being introduced in the 1960′s. The military law-enforcement agency’s moniker stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate, which also has evolved over time in the comics.

The Michael J. Fox Show

Creators: Michael J. Fox and Will Gluck (Friends with Benefits)

Inspired by the former Family Ties actor’s life, Fox stars as a husband and father of three from New York City dealing with family, career and challenges — including Parkinson’s disease — as he goes back to work as a news anchor.

Sleepy Hollow

Creators: Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci

Ichabod Crane wakes up from the throes of death 250 years in the future to find the world on the brink of destruction and learn he is humanity’s only hope.

Once Upon A Time in Wonderland

Creators: Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Once Upon a Time, Lost)

In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be insane and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything.

Almost Human

Creator: J.H. Wyman (Fringe)

Almost Human is an action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely connection is forged when a cop with an aversion to robots and a robot with unexpected emotional responses investigate cases in a brave new world.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Creators: Dan Goor and Michael Schur

Watch what happens when a detective who doesn’t take anything seriously gets a new tightly-wound boss who wants him to grow up and respect the badge.


Creator: Cole Haddon

Series introduces Dracula as he arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier. There’s only one circumstance that can potentially thwart his plan: Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.


Creators: Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Homeland) and Rick Eid (Law & Order)

Hostages is a high-octane suspense drama starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette as a première surgeon thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott). The show is based on a never-produced Israeli show from Aranya, Shamir and Sharir.

The Crazy Ones

Academy Award winner Robin Williams returns to series television in The Crazy Ones, a single-camera workplace comedy about a larger-than-life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behaviour would get him fired… if he weren’t the boss.
