Just a mention of the title and I’ll bet you’re already humming the lyrics. Based on the MGM Film of the same name, critically acclaimed award-winning Singin’ In The Rain is making a big splash in South Africa, just in time for the festive season.

I’m singin’ in the rain/Just singin’ in the rain/What a glorious feelin’/I’m happy again/I’m laughing at clouds/So dark up above/The sun’s in my heart/And i’m ready for love.

Direct from London’s West End, theatre production Singin’ in the Rain, will be produced and presented in South Africa by Pieter Toerien at the Artscape Opera House from 11 December 2015 to 10 January 2016.

The show, now touring internationally with a stellar South African cast, is currently playing to sell out houses in Hong Kong after wowing audiences in New Zealand, the Philippines and Singapore, and South Africa is next!

Set in 1927, Singin’ in the Rain tells the story, made famous by Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in the iconic 1952 MGM movie. Singin’ in the Rain is a brilliant comedy about the film industry, with its egomaniac stars, monstrous film moguls, fickle fans, classic ‘golden-era’ moves and slapstick humour.

Let the stormy clouds chase/Everyone from the place/Come on with the rain/I’ve a smile on my face/I walk down the lane/With a happy refrain/just singin’/singin’ in the rain

The spectacular production is packed full of the charm, romance, comedy and tinsel town glamour and features wonderful tap dancing sequences with all the well-known songs from the glorious MGM score.

With its joyous story, high-energy choreography and sumptuous set design and costumes, Singin’ in the Rain showers you with everything you could wish for in a hit musical.

So com’on, give the television a rest and head out to a night of fun at the theatre. Your wife/girlfriend/fiance/daughter/cat will love it. You’ll be singin’ and dancin’ in the rain.
