With excitement for Blizzard’s new game Overwatch reaching fever pitch, Blizzard has decided to release more information on what they have planned for the expanded universe.
The Overwatch expanded universe will consist of animated shorts, digital comic shorts and a graphic novel. The first of the animated shorts will release in March, with the rest releasing periodically leading up to the games launch. The animated shorts will explore the game’s most iconic heroes and the future that they are fighting for.
The digital comic shorts will also be releasing as the launch date nears and will be free of charge. The first series of comic shorts will focus on the games gunslinger, McCree, which will debut in April. The shorts that will follow will teach us more about the criminal duo Roadhog and Junkrat, and Reheinhardt, a knight from a bygone era.
The Overwatch graphic novel will be titled Overwatch: First Strike, and takes place decades before the events of the game. The graphic novel will shed some more light on Overwatch’s origin and their mission.
Overwatch will be launching on consoles and PC on the 24th of May 2016.
