BioWare Working On Brand New Action-Adventure IP

BioWare has announced that they are currently working on a brand new action-adventure franchise that we will be able to get our hands on sooner than expected.

BioWare Working On Brand New Action-Adventure IP
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson announced, at their investor meeting, that BioWare will be delivering an all-new IP at the end of the fiscal year. Wilson explained that the new IP will delve into new concepts and gameplay mechanics.

“A clean-sheet design with new concepts, new gameplay mechanics, and new stories set in a unique new universe. This game has the potential to fundamentally disrupt the way people think about an action title, bringing friends together to play in exhilarating new ways. We’re very excited about the future of this new franchise and its ability to attract a large global audience.”

The news was later confirmed and expanded on by BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn. According to Flynn, the team has been working on the new IP’s universe since 2012.

“In 2012, we began crafting a new universe full of new characters, stories, and gameplay. Our ambition is simple: Draw upon 20+ years of development knowledge and lessons to create something fun and new for you to enjoy with your friends. There’s nothing quite as exciting as building a new IP from scratch, and it will be even more thrilling for us to share more with you in the future.”

The fact that both Flynn and Wilson referred to friends playing together could suggest that the new IP might be focusing heavily on multiplayer. Wilson did also mention that although the new IP will blend genres it is definitely not an RPG.

We are excited to see what BioWare comes up with. It an industry saturated with sequels it’s great to hear that an amazing developer like BioWare is working on something brand new. Luckily we only have to wait till next year as the game is set for release in 2018.
