One of gaming’s greatest myths has been solved – the truth behind the rumour that millions (14 trucks worth) of unsold Atari cartridges, including E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, cited as one of the worst video games ever created, was buried in New Mexico has come to light. As part of a documentary made by Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios, the company excavated a landfill in search of the legendary Atari video game burial of 1983 and, crazy enough, found a bulk of cartridges below the surface.
