Column: What We’re Watching On Netflix South Africa

Since Netflix launched in South Africa earlier this year I’ve heard a lot of complaints about viewers not finding anything to watch or that the content isn’t up to scratch. Here we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite television shows and movies currently on Netflix South Africa. Of course, we haven’t included the more obvious stuff like Daredevil and Jessica Jones (which I’m certain most of you have already seen).

Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made

Luke Cage

In this Marvel live action series, a street-fighting ex-con battles crime on the streets of New York as the Super Hero, Luke Cage. Now Streaming on Netflix.

Stranger Things

Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modine

The Fear of 13

Designated Survivor

Starring Kiefer Sutherland, Kal Penn, Maggie Q and Natascha McElhone

Amanda Knox

This gripping, atmospheric documentary recounts the infamous trial, conviction and eventual acquittal of Seattle native Amanda Knox for the 2007 murder of a British exchange student in Italy.

The Invitation

Starring Michiel Huisman, Logan Marshall-Green and John Carroll Lynch

Will and his new girlfriend Kira are invited to a dinner with old friends at the house of Will’s ex Eden and her new partner David. Although the evening appears to be relaxed, Will soon gets a creeping suspicion that their charming host David is up to something.

Luther is a British crime drama programme starring Idris Elba as the title character, DCI John Luther.
