2K and Firaxis have released a new trailer for Civilization VI that gives us more insight into the leader of the Kingdom of Kongo in Civilization VI, Mvemba Nzinga.
The new trailer gives us a look at the Kingdom of Kongo lead by Mvemba Nzinga. Mvemba is most notably known for spreading Christianity across his empire and strengthing his kingdom’s ties with Portugal in a bid to modernize his empire. His road to becoming the leader of the Kingdom of Kongo was paved with conflict. In order to claim the throne, he had to defeat his half-brother Mpanzu a Nzinga and his forces. Some accounts attribute his victory to the appearance of an apparition of Saint James the Great that broke the morale of the enemy and lead to Christianity becoming the royal faith during his rule.
Although wanting to strengthen ties with Portugal, Mvemba deplored Portuguese participation in the Kongo slave trade and fought to stop it. Once those ties were strengthened Mvemba welcomed Portuguese missionaries who helped modernize his country.
Civilization VI launches in October 2016 on PC with both Mac and Linux versions planned
