Shell V-Power Nitro+ SEFAC Experience Day 2016

Shell V-Power Nitro+ SEFAC Experience Day 2016-Header

Yesterday, 23 July 2016, saw the return of the Ferrari owners club’s return to Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, which was now been revamped and reopened earlier this year. The event, sponsored by Shell V-Power Nitro+, who also played host to some media, including myself, was organised by SEFAC (Southern Equitorial Ferrari Automobili Club, and saw more than 200 supercars from the Maranello based factory. The Shell V-Power Nitro+ SEFAC Experience Day was huge fun, with a respectably sized turnout by the public.

While there were many onlookers viewing from the main grand stand, there almost as many within special pitlane access, where you could get an even better view of the cars, as well as watch drivers screaming passed the main straight. The newly retarred and restored track looked emaculate, and while not all aspects of the main paddock were completed, facilities still looked great. Even with all the action out on the track and in the pitlane, there were a few additional extras thrown into the mix, which included a few simulator experiences and other activities. For those privilaged enough, or managed to catch the fancy of an owner or driver, there were some on track experiences as well.

After a few hours of on track activity, rumbles and growls from the pitlane, and simulator fun, all participating cars were requested to pull out onto the main straight for a group photo, lead by the imperious GT 250 race car from the 60s, and the recently released 488. There were many generations of Ferraris on show on the day, spanning more than 5 decades, which included my boyhood favourite, the F50.

Thanks to Shell and their PR team for hosting us on the day, it was an extremely fun day out in the winter sun.
