Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson’s first directorial film since 2006’s Apocalypto.
Hacksaw Ridge tells the extraordinary true story of a religious man named Desmond Doss (played by Andrew Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. Desmond Doss was actually the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery in battle.
The cast also includes Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths, and Vince Vaughn.
During World War II’s Battle of Okinawa, U.S. Army medic Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield) braves bullets, grenades and snipers while single-handedly evacuating the wounded from behind enemy lines.
Hacksaw Ridge has a November 4th release date.
