XCOM: Enemy Unkown reignited the XCOM franchise, and introduced it to a whole new generation of gamers.
The game was even released on consoles giving XCOM console fans a chance to experience the new direction that the Firaxis team was taking the franchise in. It was, therefore, disappointing when XCOM 2 was only released on PC when it launched in the beginning of 2016.
This, however, is about to change.
Firaxis has announced that XCOM 2 would be making its way to consoles with help from The Workshop who will be in charge of porting the game. Creative Director, Jake Solomon had the following to say in a 2K press release:
“The incredible reception of XCOM 2 has been rewarding and humbling for the team, and we’ve known console fans have been clamoring to play the game too. As avid console players ourselves, we’re excited to work with The Workshop to bring XCOM 2 to all of our fans.”
XCOM 2 listen to a lot of complaints and advice from fans and addressed most of these. It has been one of our favorite PC games of 2016 and its great news that console fans will now also be able to play it.
XCOM will launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in September 2016.
