It’s legendary rapper Tupac’s birthday. He would have been 45 today. In honour of the occasion, the studio has released a trailer for the upcoming biopic All Eyez On Me.
The minute-long video gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from Demetrius Shipp, Jr. (who stars as 2pac). Jamal Woolard, who portrayed Notorious B.I.G. in the 2009 film Notorious, will reprise his role. A voiceover by his mother Afeni Shakur (played by Danai Gurira) tells him, “Like all black men, you have a bullseye on your back. They are going to give you the tools you need to destroy yourself.”
The Game was treated to a private advanced screening of the film over the weekend and offered a review: “Tupac movie is the real deal,” he said. “… make that Biggie movie look like a cartoon.”
All Eyez on Me is directed by Benny Boom. The film’s title is taken from Shakur’s fourth studio album, which was released in early 1996.
I’m little baffled about why actor Marcc Rose wasn’t chosen to play the late rapper though. What do you think? Does Demetrius Shipp, Jr. do the legend justice?
