Disney Star Wars

In a shock move today, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that in preparation for their upcoming release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, they will be re-releasing all 6 of the original unaltered Star Wars movies in one jumbo box set, digitally remastered in HD, for modern audiences. Yes, you read that right, they have finally let go of George Lucas’ digitally altered versions of the movies and met with fan reaction and reset the Star Wars continuity to its original unaltered state. This means of course that Han shot first. It has been unequivocally proved by Disney by this move.

The move comes after parent company, Walt Disney acquired Lucasfilm in December of 2012, and proceeded to announce a whole slew of new movies in the Star Wars continuity, to continue the vision that George Lucas began in 1977.

When approached about this reversion in continuity, the man himself, George Lucas failed to provide any comments on the matter, but sources close to Lucas has stated that he is less than pleased with the move. However, as he sold the rights off to the films, he no longer has a say in the matter.

His original vision can now be experienced, unaltered on Blu-Ray quality High Definition for the first time. What does this mean for the new trilogy of films? I guess we’ll have to wait and see when Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18, 2015. What a glorious April Fool’s day indeed.
