The cast of Suicide Squad has finally been revealed, and there are are a number of major surprises, including the casting of Will Smith as Deadshot. The cast includes Jared Leto as The Joker,
Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. There are also a number of rumours that Oprah Winfrey is in talks to play the villain, Amanda Waller.
To think that just a few years ago an acting cast this big would have sounded too good to be true and dismissed as a prank, but these days, thanks to franchises like The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy, we are seeing many high profile actors interested in their share of the comic book movie world. There’s no mention of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor joining the cast, but this could be announced later. WB President Greg Silverman confirmed in a statement that writer/director David Ayer has taken the film under his reign and will be the driving force behind the franchise. “The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one… We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”
