Hollywood veteran Kurt Russell (Death Proof) is in talks to join the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise in an undisclosed part. There’s no word on who he’ll be playing, but according to Variety, Universal Pictures originally offered the part to Denzel Washington (clearly showing its importance to the films story), who turned it down.
Tony Jaa was also recently cast in the film and joins Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, and the rest of the usual suspects. Russell, best known for roles in The Thing, Escape from New York and Tombstone, has stayed clear of any major roles since Tarantino’s 2007 Death Proof as Stuntman Mike.
There is still no word regarding the story. All we know is that the seventh installment will return Dominic Toretto and his crew back to Los Angeles. And despite what you think you saw at the end of Fast 6, Statham is claiming that he is not the villain:
“People think I’m gonna play the bad guy. People think I’m gonna be the villain. People don’t really know what’s comin’, and I think there’s something exciting about that.
Guess we will have to wait and see.
