Green Lantern Agent Orange
After Hal Jordan’s romp with the Red Lanterns in Rage of the Red Lanterns, a blue ring of hope decides to conscript him into the Blue Lantern Corps. Unable to be rid of the blue ring until he has something to hope for, Hal has to deal with the consequences of having two rings and being unable to utilize either. While in the Vega system, we are introduced to a new adversary, Larfeeze, wielder of the orange light of avarice. Hal has to content with these two problems and the oncoming war of light.

In this prelude to the cross over saga Blackest Night the secret behind the orange light is revealed. It seems yet another deep secret of the Guardians of the Universe has been exposed. The ‘colour scheming’ of the various Lanterns does seem a bit silly at times but thank goodness the introduction of this new character and colour, does not leave one groaning, ‘not another one’. Larfeeze’s zany characterization and the powers of the orange light are a breath of fresh air. The overall story is good and while the art work by Tan is great as well, the latter half of the book’s watered down illustration and shift in style is a bit jarring. The origin stories at the end are a nice way to round off the book and the sketch’s and conceptual design are great as well.
